Management says that shopping has been steady at the Platte River Mall in North Platte this year.

Official sales number from the holiday shopping season won’t be known for another few weeks, but those working at the mall say they are happy with the amount of people they have seen this year.

“I can tell from the traffic counts and just what our mall has looked life from foot traffic that sales are going to be great this holiday season,” says Cassie Condon, assistant manager of the mall.

Shoppers looking for an electronic gift have gravitated towards one popular item this year.

“The biggest thing this year has been our tablets,” says Riley Cochran, manager of RadioShack. “Whether it be iPad, Kindle Fire, or the Samsung tablets, that’s a really big push this year.”

With many people receiving money and gift cards as presents during the holidays, store managers say some of the busiest shopping actually happens after Christmas in the coming weeks.
